A Gentle Madness

This is the first books about books entry of the day. Since I promised you one every day, and I not post one yesterday, you get two book entries today. The first is “A Gentle Madness: Bibliophiles, Bibliomanes, and the Eternal Passion for Books”. This book is written bij Nicholas A. Basbanes. He writes great books about the love for books.

In this book Basbanes writes about – amongst other things – the history of collecting books and the state of book collecting in the 80’s. He tells this by quoting from many interviews he did with bibliophiles and what he calls ‘bibliomanes’. You can take a look inside the book here (US) and here (EU).
